How WhatsApp medicine reminders work in Saluvo
Phone alarms ring and get swiped away, and they don't remember what you did next. A WhatsApp medicine reminder from Saluvo is a message that arrives at the time you set, says which medicine is due, and has two buttons: Taken and Skip. Your tap is saved to that dose, so later you can see which doses you took and which you missed.
You set reminders once in Saluvo's Reminders page. Each one has a name (for example "Metformin 500 mg after breakfast"), a type (medicine, doctor visit, lab test or other), up to six times a day, the days it repeats and optional start and end dates. Linking WhatsApp then sends those reminders to your phone.
Linking your WhatsApp
Saluvo only messages people who opt in. On the WhatsApp page you tick a box agreeing to receive medicine, appointment and check-in messages, then tap Open WhatsApp. A message like "LINK 48291375" is ready to send to Saluvo's number. Send it within 30 minutes and you're linked. The page updates by itself.
Reminder times follow the time zone of the device you linked from. If you travel or move, unlink and link again from the new place.
What the messages look like
- Dose reminders name the medicine and the time, with Taken and Skip buttons.
- Doctor visit and lab test reminders name the appointment and the time.
- Check-ins arrive at 10 am the morning after a doctor visit and ask whether you went. If you say yes, Saluvo reminds you that it can explain any new report or prescription. If not, it points you to Find a doctor.
If Saluvo's scheduler is a few minutes behind, a reminder up to 15 minutes late still goes out, and never twice.
Medicine reminders for elderly parents
This is one of the most common reasons people look for a WhatsApp pill reminder. There are two honest ways to set it up in Saluvo.
Your parent as a profile in your account
Add your mother or father as a family profile and create their reminders there. Because an account has one linked WhatsApp number, their reminders come to your WhatsApp. That suits a parent who needs a nudge by phone call, or who doesn't use WhatsApp much. Tip: put their name in the reminder, such as "Mum: amlodipine 5 mg", because the message shows the reminder name.
Your parent with their own account
If your parent is comfortable with WhatsApp, they can create their own Saluvo account and link their own number. Then reminders reach their phone and they tap Taken themselves. Separate accounts don't share data, so you won't see their log from your account.
What it costs
Each WhatsApp message costs 1 credit, or 3 credits for numbers in a few countries where WhatsApp charges businesses more, currently the UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Israel. If WhatsApp rejects a send, the credits are refunded. Browser notifications inside Saluvo are free but only show while the app is open.
Stopping and privacy
Reply STOP at any time and every reminder pauses. Reply START to resume. In the app you can switch dose and visit reminders or check-ins on and off separately, or unlink your number, which also withdraws your consent. Reminders only go to a number that sent Saluvo its link code.
